The Tenacre Country Day School's Annual Fund

 


Matthew Hamory serves as a partner at KPMG, a professional services firm located in Boston, Massachusetts. Outside of work, he supports Tenacre Country Day School, a private coed school in Wellesley, Massachusetts, serving students in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Matthew Hamory leads as co-chair of the Tenacre Annual Fund.

A key fundraising initiative for Tenacre Country Day School, the Annual Fund supplies 10 percent of the school’s annual operating revenue. In addition to supporting the school’s programming, the Annual Fund helps students whose families cannot afford tuition to send their children to the school.

For the last 12 years, 100 percent of parents have given to the Annual Fund, and for the last 10 years, every single member of the staff and faculty have also contributed. Such high participation levels are not common for independent schools, and speak to the commitment of the school’s close-knit community.

Matthew Hamory recently offered insight into Amazon's venture into the grocery sector in a profile for Fortune Magazine. In the article, Hamory comments on Amazon’s recent purchase of Whole Foods and how this move will expand its grocery business and grow its paid subscription membership base. He points out that, in comparison to the typical grocery store layout, Amazon’s warehouse-based business model is a much better way of storing fresh foods.
